Stress.

“Stress is not what happens to us. It’s our response to what happens & our response is something we can choose” – Maureen Killoran

Stress is actually considered undefined because everyone is different & has different life events that they react too. Causes of stress can be narrowed down to different causes known as stressors. These are event’s in one’s life that effect a person in a way that they may be unable to cope or handle the situation.

What one person may find as a natural occurrence, another may find as a stressful situation. Stress therefore is an individualistic experience based on the own external or internal event’s.

External causes can be life events that suddenly occur or slowly begin to change one’s life. This can be event’s that make people feel uncomfortable or unable to be happy after an event or multiply events occur. Something like a death in the family or event a pet can be sudden and cause stress. Even something like a change of environment, a new home location with new neighbours. It’s really small but it’s the little things that affect us most. Sometimes stress can lead to further health problems or it can be so little that it’s temporary. The one to be careful of is understanding that big life changing event’s, good or bad can be the cause to the stress we feel daily.

Daily Hassles is another form of external stress. They are also the most common forms of stress. Sometimes we get through half the day and feel stressed or over whelmed; from our daily activities to the chores we list to complete after a full day of work. Many concepts like that are what keep us up at night or even feeling sick with headaches. There are other things like arguments, loneliness, and lack of sleep, poor eating habits, gossip, job dissatisfaction & more. With so many things going on in society with the life style changes, and the feeling of never having time to yourself, is causing you and your body harmful stressors.

Then there are internal stressors and we can’t blame these on no one but ourselves. These are individuals who are maybe having trouble with their belief, attitude, perception, and personal confidence in themselves. When you put yourself down because of image perception from society, the idea of success being for those who have a high IQ, or the lack of belief in religion or themselves are likely to be stressed.

To think that there wouldn’t any more possible ways that stress can occur would be to forget that stress is undefined. There are other causes to stress like physical stressors due to lack of sleep, too little/too much excercise, poor diet & smoking.

Work stressors due to time pressure, low pay, conflicts & being a workaholic.

Psychological stressors like being quick to switch emotions, or being angry, financial problems or even being unemployed.

Family stressors like not having good relationships with your family or even a recent family death.

Sometimes even Social stressors, as depending on where you live can have you feeling fear of crime along with environment concerns because of poverty &/or pollution.

There are many, many different kinds of stress, but what you should do is identify your problems, to solve them, talk about them, to then focus on reducing the problems on hand. The more your think about your problems the bigger your problems become.

Stress can be from good or bad events, but what we think about with these event’s is what our body is going to react too. So aim to make decisions, do only what you can & never overwhelm yourself that you find yourself stressed with many tasks you can’t handle.

Hope this informs & helps someone, anyone.
